About the Opportunity
Location: Just 10 km west of Kamloops, BC-a vibrant city offering world-class recreation, from ski resorts and mountain biking trails to lakes, vineyards, and championship golf courses.
Schedule: Flexible 5x2 or 4x3 work options.
Role: Senior Tailings Engineer - Operations
Become a key leader within the Tailings and Surface Team, managing four Tailings Storage Facilities and driving innovative projects like thickened and cement-amended tailings deposition, dewatering stabilization, facility reclamation, and mining-induced subsidence monitoring.

You'll lead, mentor, and inspire a talented technical team while ensuring the operational excellence of tailings management.


Key Responsibilities

As a leader, you will:

  • Prioritize safety and sustainability in all tailings and surface activities.
  • Supervise and mentor a high-performing team of engineers and technical staff.
  • Develop and deliver a 5-year strategic plan for tailings and surface operations.
  • Ensure the availability and performance of all four TSFs for uninterrupted operations.
  • Oversee planning and execution of tailings placement, stabilization, and water management.
  • Drive continuous improvement through infrastructure upgrades and innovative solutions.
  • Prepare budgets for operations and capital projects.
  • Participate in dam safety inspections, independent reviews, and regulatory compliance reporting.

Qualifications

You'll bring:

  • 8+ years of experience in tailings, mining, project management, or operations.
  • P.Eng. designation with a degree in mining, civil, or geotechnical engineering.
  • Leadership experience supervising teams, consultants, and contractors.
  • Strong skills in project planning, risk assessment, and technical documentation.
  • Practical knowledge in areas like earthworks, well installation, and construction.
