About the Role
Due to increased demand and business expansion, our client, a market leader in metals distribution and value-added services, is seeking an experienced Head of Operations to lead and develop their UK operations. Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Oversee a workforce of 125 employees with five direct reports. Engage directly with teams at all levels, fostering strong relationships and a positive, productive work culture.
- Operational Oversight: Manage a critical cost center with performance metrics focused on quality, health and safety, cost per activity, on-time-in-full (OTIF) delivery, and people development.
- Supply Chain Management: Drive efficiencies across the supply chain and lead capital expenditure planning to support ongoing and future projects.
- Mentorship and Collaboration: Serve as a mentor, supporting and guiding teams with a collaborative approach. Attend daily huddles, hold regular site meetings, and establish yourself as a visible, approachable leader.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Operational Expertise: Proven track record in senior operational roles within the Steel Industry or related sectors (Metals, Components, Machining, Large Fabrications, General Engineering, or Technical Manufacturing).
- Leadership Skills: A people-centric leader with strong interpersonal skills, an energetic presence, and the ability to build rapport with colleagues across all levels of the business.
- Results-Oriented: Strong character, resilience, and credibility, with a demonstrated ability to drive improvements in safety, quality, and operational efficiencies.
