In this podcast episode, we’re joined by John Hennessy, President and Founder of Hennessy Advisory – providing consultative and advisory services to support automated ecommerce fulfilment operations. He sat down with Sameer Jaffary, automation recruitment specialist at CSG Talent. 

Throughout the podcast we delve into the early days of John’s career and what initially drew him to the successful and diverse career path he has experienced, where a strong passion for problem solving and finding solutions quickly evolved to sales. 

John shares insights into taking a holistic approach to the customer experience and sales solutions and how that has enabled him to understand barriers and challenges of adoption of new technologies to ensure that sales solutions are driven by customer needs and the value they serve, not the sales solutions itself. John discusses how important critical thinking and problem solving are to understand complex problems and establish effective solutions and more uptake with adoption. 

Skills gaps are prevalent across the globe, and in many industries. We asked John where he believes are the biggest skills gaps across automation, robotics and fulfilment. John highlights the need to be more training in turning data into information, and in turn, turning that information into a story – this is how change will happen. 

An interesting topic discussed was the importance of true account management and customer success following sales or solutions implemented. John emphasises how important this is as part of the process for account management teams to be more proactive and regular communications to check in, both positive and negative experiences.
